Underground Shopping Center

The underground shopping centers that are managed by the Seoul Metropolitan City are formed into two types of shopping arcade; one developed in 1970s ~ 1980s as shelter and passage of the citizens and the other created with private capital within subway stations like metro shopping centers and Yeongdeungpo New Town Underground Shopping Center. The former that was made for people’s passage is managed by SFC while the latter that was developed within subway stations for profit raising are operated by Seoul Metro and Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation. Also, the arcades that were established with private capital are managed by private development firms.
